We are seeking a dynamic, self-driven, and detail-oriented professional for a Technical Illustrator-CAD/Graphics Design Technician opening to join our team in our Ventura, CA office.

The Technical Illustrator CAD/Graphics Design Technician performs work in a variety of capacities:

Drafting work is performed using AutoCAD and/or Draftsight design and documentation software, requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques, prepares drawings of structures, facilities, land profiles, flowcharts, site plans, and similar graphics related to environmental services. Imports and revises information obtained from other engineering and planning firms. The technician will work with project teams and find opportunities to standardize common tasks. This will lead to the generation of common style sets, blocks, and other digital assets needed to create consistent end products. The technician will develop training materials to support project teams such as documentation to support workflows, processes and "how-tos" in order to promote efficiency throughout the firm.

Graphic design support includes but is not limited to the preparation of presentation ready graphics, contract deliverables, infographics, and reports. This is accomplished through the development and revision of graphic layouts to improve the quality and enhance the usability of these documents using specialized graphics computer software. Use of software programs including, but not limited to, Adobe Illustrator (high proficiency), Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign; Corel Designer; Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.

Beneficial skills that the CAD/Graphics Design Technician may have include 3D Modeling and GIS support:

  • 3D Modeling support: creates accurately scaled 3D models from engineering drawings using Trimble Sketchup. Models are used in viewshed analysis, massing studies, shadow, and light based analysis and generally exported to pdf format.
  • GIS support: utilize GIS software (ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD Map 3D), create multiple types of maps and implements GIS analytical tools for producing information for use in environmental and biological reports. Acquires, maintains, and updates GIS data layers; makes GIS data layers available company-wide for viewing and querying via published map files, acquires digital aerial photography and other assets for use in mapping, and maintains the GIS library and metadata. Use of multiple ArcMap plug-ins, scripting, ortho-rectification, data modeling, and differential correction of field data acquired from GPS equipment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

The Technician must be able to work in a fast pace environment, able to work well with team members and equally able to work alone. Must be enthusiastic and self-disciplined in order to organize time and prioritize assignments. Multitasking and problem-solving skills are essential. Excellent communication skills including experience working across multiple office locations is strongly desired.

This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. This is a largely sedentary role.
