Rincon Consultants, Inc. is a highly qualified multi-disciplinary environmental science, planning, and engineering consulting firm with offices in Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, , Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Ventura, California. Rincon was founded in 1994 and is currently staffed by more than 165 arborist, archaeologist, architectural historians, botanist, engineers, environmental scientist, geologist, GIS professionals, LEED accredited professionals, paleontologist, planners, restoration ecologist, soil scientist, visual information specialists, wetland scientist and wildlife biologist. We have an immediate opening and excellent professional growth opportunity for an Associate Land Use/Environmental Planner in our Monterey, CA office.

The Associate Land Use/Environmental Planner will:

  • Perform research for complex municipal planning projects and private land development projects
  • Assist with the preparation of all levels of CEQA/NEPA documents
  • Assist with the review of development proposals for compliance with state regulations, zoning code standards, and comprehensive plan policies
  • Assist with the preparation of General Plans, Specific Plans, Community Plans, and other comprehensive planning documents
  • Interact with various members of public agency and private client staff on matters related to land use planning, CEQA/NEPA compliance, and land development/entitlements
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction to our public and private clients
  • Enhance Rincons professional reputation and demonstrate the ability to be creative and innovative with these tasks while representing Rincon in a professional manner
  • Work closely with Rincon Principal(s) and Managers to promote our business interests in adherence with the company's mission, vision, and values

Experience and Skills:

Candidates should hold a BA/BS degree or higher in environmental science, urban planning or a related discipline. The successful candidate will possess 3-5 years of professional experience in environmental impact assessment, land use planning, land development/entitlements, and/or urban design. Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills are also required. Professional experience with preparing CEQA and/or NEPA documents is required. AICP certification is a plus.
