We have an immediate opening and excellent professional growth opportunity for a Mid-level Biologist/Project Manager in our Fresno, Monterey, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo and Ventura offices.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Education and Work Experience Requirements (Meet one or more of the following requirements):

  • Baccalaureate degree in Biology or equivalent and at least 5 years of relevant consulting experience
  • Master’s degree in Biology or equivalent from an accredited university or college and 3-5 years of relevant consulting experience
  • Doctorate degree in Biology or equivalent and 2-5 years of relevant experience

 

Qualified candidates ideally will have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in at least 2 of the following areas:

  • Biological resources assessment
  • Species surveys
  • Wetland delineations & jurisdictional determinations
  • Regulatory permitting
  • Regulatory compliance oversight
  • Regulatory compliance monitoring
  • Restoration, habitat management, mitigation monitoring

 

 Responsibilities include:

  • Life cycle project management
    • Proposal writing
    • Contract negotiations / confirm contractual obligations met
    • Coordinating and tracking of assignments, scopes, schedules budgets and deliverables
    • Technical writing
    • Technical direction to staff
    • Client communications
    • QA / QC 
  • Business Development
    • Client outreach
    • Proposal writing
    • Client interviews
    • Presentations 
  • Fieldwork
    • Conduct fieldwork necessary to complete biological documentation for projects
    • Travel (with overnight stays) when needed
    • The Mid-level Biologist/Project Manager manages the preparation of high quality technical studies and environmental documents.  The Mid-level Biologist/Project Manager has the ability to manage and complete moderate to large sized projects and major tasks of larger projects.  The majority of work is completed in a largely unsupervised manner.

 

The qualified candidate can demonstrate a minimum of 5+ years of progressive & successful experience in the above three areas (Project Management, Business Development & Fieldwork). Additionally, the qualified candidate can demonstrate their past / current successes of supervising employees, being solution-orientated, and fostering positive relationships with staff, clients, agencies and subconsultants.
