Rincon Consultants, Inc. is a highly qualified multi-disciplinary environmental science, planning, and engineering consulting firm with offices in Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Ventura, California. Rincon was founded in 1994 and is currently staffed by more than 165 arborist, archaeologist, architectural historians, botanist, engineers, environmental scientist, geologist, GIS professionals, LEED accredited professionals, paleontologist, planners, restoration ecologist, soil scientist, visual information specialists, wetland scientist and wildlife biologist. In addition to our broad range of services and staff qualifications; one of our key strengths is our active involvement in projects from 'inception-to-implementation'.

We have an immediate opening for a Human Resources Generalist in our Ventura, CA office.

Under general direction, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the administration of various Human Resources disciplines. The human resource generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, affirmative action and employment equity program, benefits management, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.This job is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background check.

Essential Functions

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; and writes and places advertisements.
  • Acts as an employee relations specialist.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Updates, monitors and maintains eligible salary adjustments/increases based on three- and six-month and one-year evaluations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Coordination and development of ongoing efforts for ADA compliance including consultative services to management.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent years of experience
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other human resource programs
  • Intermediate to Expert in Microsoft Office Suite and various web-based software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Excellent internal customer service and written/spoken communication skills
  • Can write clearly and persuasively to define problems and articulate solutions within a group setting
  • Comfortable with a team-based work structure
  • Can demonstrate flexibility on the job
  • Will demonstrate initiative and a sense of urgency
  • Provides complete follow-through on all areas of responsibility

  • Acceptable DMV driving record
  • Ability to occasionally work outside and beyond core business hours

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification
