Rincon Consultants is a leader in providing quality environmental consulting services throughout California. Recognized as a Zweig Group nationally-ranked 'Best Places to Work,’  we partner with clients in sectors such as transportation, energy and infrastructure, oil and gas, water, commercial and private development and government. Our 250+ associates in 14 offices located in northern, central, and southern CA are dedicated professionals who combine their passion with our purpose.

Rincon is seeking qualified field archaeologists for various projects throughout California. Candidates must have professional archaeological field experience and be familiar with the practical requirements of survey, evaluation, and monitoring projects. Familiarity with the applications of CEQA and NEPA are preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will be responsible for assisting senior archaeologists during survey, testing, field monitoring, and laboratory studies; preparing written information such as site forms and report sections; and working closely with other cultural resources staff, Rincon’s clients, and Native American representatives. Familiarity with California prehistoric and historical cultural resources and the culture history of California are required. Experience with GIS is preferred; the candidate should have experience with Trimble and/or Garmin GPS data collection. Candidates should have strong organizational skills.

Experience and Skills:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field plus at least two (2) years of professional experience identifying, documenting, and evaluating cultural resources for significance. A Master’s degree may be used in lieu of one year of field experience. Cross training in paleontological studies is preferred. Candidate must be able to work independently and make on-the-ground decisions during monitoring and other fieldwork. Field experience within the Great Basin, Mojave, and California deserts is preferred.

Candidates must have their own transportation, a valid driver’s license, and must be able to pass a drug test. Candidates must also be able to hike 10-12 miles per day in often difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions while carrying up to 25 lbs. Availability to work extended field rotations (10-12 days at a time) and travel is required.
