We have an immediate opening for a Payroll Administrator to join our Human Resources team in our Ventura, CA office. The chosen candidate will be highly skilled in processing CA-based payrolls for our 13 offices, as well as a small remote population. This individual will have a working knowledge of CA wage and hour law, will be approachable, capable and committed to delivering exceptional service to our team of scientists and professionals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Implements, maintains, reviews, and processes payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Reviews timesheets weekly and imports file feeds from Deltek Ajera project management system.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Develops and maintains payroll processing procedures.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or degree, a plus
  • Two years of direct experience processing CA payrolls
  • Working knowledge of CA wage and hour law
  • Must be proficient with Outlook and Word and advanced Excel abilities (formulas, pivot tables)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments concurrently
  • Positive attitude, diplomatic, professional and approachable
  • Self-starter who is a team player

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Payroll Professional designation
  • Three plus years of recent payroll processing experience
  • Paylocity experience
