We are seeking a dynamic, self-driven, and detail-oriented professional for a CAD/GIS Analyst opening to join our team in our Santa Barbara, Ventura or Redlands offices. (Regular travel to additional client sites for contract services may be required.)

This position's primary responsibility is to make basic to intermediate edits to AutoCAD drawings, create GIS based maps, enhance or create Adobe Illustrator documents, and produce visual simulations using Trimble Sketchup or equivalent. The candidate must be detail oriented (i.e. map scale/spatial orientation) and have a strong eye for cartographic and visual design. The candidate will have experience, knowledge, and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques. The position will be responsible for generating custom and standard maps, diagrams and other technical graphics products to meet customer requirements. The position will utilize a combination of tools to create site maps, scaled cross sections, 3D visual simulations, shadow modeling, and other various products associated with environmental consulting.

Essential Functions:

Drafting work is performed using AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, and/or equivalent design and documentation software to prepare drawings of structures, facilities, land profiles, flowcharts, site plans, cross-sections, and similar graphics related to environmental services. The candidate will regularly import and revise information obtained from other engineering and planning firms in AutoCAD or similar formats. Experience interpreting, creating, or working with construction site plans is highly desired.

3D Modeling is performed using Trimble Sketchup or equivalent to create accurately scaled 3D models. Models are used in viewshed analysis, massing studies, shadow, visual simulations, verification, and light-based analysis and generally exported to pdf format.

GIS work is performed in ArcGIS 10.6, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS. Additional knowledge of ESRI based field data collection and ArcGIS Online tools highly desired.

Required Experience:

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE and REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience using standard AutoCAD and GIS tools to create technical graphics and mapping products
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience, knowledge, and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques
  • Knowledge of software tools and applications including but not limited to AutoCAD, ArcGIS (Desktop, ArcGIS Online, and Collector for ArcGIS), Adobe (Acrobat/Photoshop/Illustrator), SketchUp, and applications within the MS Office Suite.
  • Experience working with construction site plans in both 2D and 3D formats
  • Understand, analyze and define user requirements and recommend cost effective systems solutions.
  • Organize, plan and complete projects efficiently.
  • The Analyst must be able to work in a fast pace environment and must be able to work well with team members and must be equally able to work alone. Must be enthusiastic and self-disciplined in order to organize time and prioritize assignments. Multitasking and problem-solving skills are essential. Excellent communication skills including experience working across multiple office locations is strongly desired.
